I stole my sister's dolls' wig. I love his previous wavy one, but it just overwhelms him.
He is helping me work. :)
Llewellyn is having his faceplate shipped to Chienism on DoA for a new look. Finally. I can't really afford to do Sorrel's face now, sadly. Someday, I will learn not to paint lips with such a heavy hand... |

I'm sure it's obvious I don't post so much anymore... The truth is, for a while, I had a job that made it possible to buy dolls and all the fun trinkets that go along with them, but that job made me miserable, so I quit. About 18 months later, I got another job which paid that much, but it also made me miserable, so after two months I quit. Now I don't really see myself getting any more dolls or being very involved in the community unless my income changes significantly, and I don't foresee that in the near future. (Or in the future at all, to be honest.) So... I'll just be posting here every so often with who I already own.
I still dream of an Unoa harem... ;) |

I cleared off a desk that will be the Photo Desk, probably. Took a few pictures of Marzipan two weeks ago I never posted. Also, took photos of the Unoa boy body with my Lusis plate. I decided the L-bi (the one with green eyes) will be Llewellyn, and the Lusis (pink eyes) will be Evelyn (which is a unisex name, btw!) I think Ev will keep the blond wig and Llew the black lol, I just remembered I put black lashes on Ev this morning >< but ANYWAY

No matter what, I can seem to be really happy with my dolls. I'm constantly finding a better wig, a better idea for a faceup, better customization direction... The only one I didn't mess with anymore was Bailey. How funny.
The wig intended for the Lusis plate got here.

I'm thinking of offering a face-up service, to get some pocket change and more practice. But I always look at mine and see all these imperfections and asymmetry. I get self-conscious.
My sister has a new doll that I'll be doing, plus I will do a repaint of Sorrel and then I'll decide. |

Usually I'm only bothered by DoA and doll collectors as a whole is when they whine and bitch about DoA and doll collectors as a whole. There needs to be a score card for General Discussion threads which devolve into "doll owners are all so mean and elurtissst!!!" (half point if the complaint is that no one looks at their dolls because they didn't buy a popular sculpt OR for trying to psychoanalyze slash fans) |

Bailey's gone now, too. Bye hon!
It's so weird to see him in someone else's photos (right now she has his wig and clothing, too). His new name is Jayden.
Once again, I plan on changing my direction a bit and actually having a pair of dolls of specific charachters. Bailey was of course one of those, but I was thinking of his counterpart, Whitney, as well. (I have long ago deleted the source material for these two, but plan on eventually rebooting them in a comic...) Ani showed off Bailey's moody, temperamental side; I was thinking of the next mold to show his more self-confident, sultry side. And it would be a bigger (more obviously adult) doll. I really wanted to get a DIM Lloyd but thinking about making my characters is a bit more exciting.
I get a decision about a new job next week so we'll see if re-incarnating Bailey is in the cards. ^^ |

| Meetup and stuff |

I am making one big hunk of a post with both meetup and personal photos.
There was a group meet yesterday afternoon at Golden Gate Park, which I rushed to get to as I'd just come home today from a vacation... ^^ But when I got there, it looked like everyone already knew each other, or they all came with someone, and for whatever reason I just had a resurgence of crushing shyness, just skulked around and took photos here and there. Last meet, starting off talking about what doll this is, or which eyes these are, would start off a conversation, but this time it would just trail off and the person would go back to her friend or whatever she had been doing before. :<

Kestrel left for a new home.
I'm one of those people now who got one of her "dream" dolls and then the spark fizzled. There's a whole thread on that!
Although my problem may have been that this was an ersatz Anais for me. Either way, if I want that head mold again, she is now available at the LA Tenshi no Sumika. So I'm not really heartbroken.

I added my DM Asha head to my FS thread. :( Well, it has just been lying around forever. It's got a beautiful faceup...
I had a free evening last night and redid Camille's face. I left the cheeks and lips, which had been done by Neg on DoA, and re-did the eyes.

I went to a meet in the city today. Very small, very friendly. We weren't all sitting at tables like we had been at the tea house last time, so that was a relief, and it was much easier to try and join in conversation, although I spent a good deal of time typing back and forth on Lokita's phone/palm pilot gadget because I don't know sign language. So even out in a social setting, I end up doing the equivalent of an IM conversation...

I just spend two hours putting Dollusion back up... and it's as basic as basic can be. Anyway, here is the new URL.
Some photos of Bailey and Marzipan. I'm working on making a permanent setup like I used to have, except this time made out of pieces of masonite screwed together, so the walls can be moved around. Anyway:

Well maybe it's not that surprising because I stopped paying attention to new companies coming out sometime in early-mid 2007. Still!
*All glorydoll's skin is made by high-grade urethane resin.
(Of course, this resin does not harm human beings.)
Their aesthetic highly appeals to me!!
The bodies are pretty ugly, though. I've become a lot more picky since last year and it bothers me that a lot of newer doll makers put so much effort into the face but the body loses shape and depth. I saw someone talking about how great an AoD body fit her Unoa and showed side-by-side photos with an Unoa 1.5. The AoD side view looked like a wedge compared to Unoa, which had a beautiful rhythm to it, with parts arching forward or back like they would on a real body.
If this is a woman, why is she shaped like a plank with two breasts tacked on? |

I ordered an Unoa L-Bi!! AAHH Seven months of penny-pinching will finally pay off. :D But... I think that's my last one, honestly, besides getting a body for the DM Asha head. It's a full house, I have more than enough.
I redid three face-ups... And I might re-do two of them again, eventually. I'm starting to think the dolls are meant to be never-ending works in progress.

I ordered my Lusis faceplate!!! Yaaaay!
I've really wanted an Unoa boy for a while but I love the Lusis face so I'll compromise and switch the faceplates off. :D I don't think I've ever seen a Lusis boy, I think I'm the only one who can stand such an effeminate face* on one... -.- I don't see why they did the parts order before the boys, though. :\

I have a clothing sale and an eye sale thread, if anyone is looking. I am getting rid of all my bargain-type clothing and a few things I made which I don't like. Actually, much of it I do like but I just don't really want to dress my dolls in it. Both my own and my dolls' clothing style has changed a lot and while I like it when other people's dolls are super punk or pink or goth or whatever, it's just not for me.

So Marzipan got new eyeballs!
I never really liked the sea-green silicone eyes he had come with and it loked terribly weird in such a dark brown boy. I wanted some brown or golden eyes for him. He got Souldoll acrylics; they came in the mail today. :)
